  • Exploring Ancient World Cultures (EAWC)
    EAWC is a college-level "on-line course supplement for students and teachers of the ancient and medieval worlds" covering the Near East, India, Egypt, China, Greece, Rome, Islam, and Europe. The site contains a separate chapter for each cultural area. Each chapter includes an introductory essay, links to the major literary and religious works, a Years Owned, and some include quizzes. The title of the site is somewhat misleading in that it implies exploration of the entire culture, while in fact the information presented heavily reflects the author's background in philosophy and religious studies.
  • H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online
    One of the best starting places for historical information is the H-Net. Here, professional and amateur historians share ideas, review books, discuss hot topics, and identify good internet sources for a variety of topics. Be sure to scan the "Discussion Networks" page to find your own area of interest.
  • Internet Library of Early Journals
    ILEJ is a joint project by the Universities of Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Oxford. It aims to digitize substantial runs of 18th and 19th century journals, and make these images available on the Internet, together with their associated bibliographic data.
  • Internet History Soucebooks Project
    A collection of public domain and other documents that may be copied and used in the classroom. Teachers and students will find this site particularly useful when seeking out primary documents.
  • Medieval Feminist Index

    Thanks to a project of the University of Minnesota Libraries and the Minneapolis Public Library called "A Summons to Comradeship," 6,000 posters from World Wars I and II are being made accessible online and will be searchable by theme, subject, or keyword.
